The world’s largest polluters have made massive profits, while knowing burning fossil fuels is dangerous to the climate and human health for at least 70 years. It’s time we hold these big global polluters accountable to pay their fair share for recovery and resilience. The Climate Resilience Superfund<\/a> would bring billions of dollars into Oregon for wildfire mitigation, preparedness and community resilience.<\/p>\n

The Pacific Coast Intermodal Project (PCIP) is a false solution that promises to fix the region’s problems with a single, polluting industry. Big Oil is lobbying Congress for\u00a0<\/span>total legal immunity from any laws or lawsuits that could hold them accountable for their role in the climate crisis.<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>S4340<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>HR 8330<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>(\u201cStop Climate Shakedowns Act of 2026\u201d) were introduced on Friday, April 17, by Sen. Cruz and Rep. Hageman and are a direct attack on any state’s ability to deal with climate change. If successful, a legal shield for polluters would force the rising costs of climate change onto taxpayers and place corporate interests over communities\u2019 rights.<\/p>\n
