POWER SHUT OFF ZONES

KEEPING OUR POWER: POWER SHUTOFF ZONES

As the threat of wildfires in Southern Oregon has grown over the years, Pacific Power has continued to direct billions in profits to shareholders instead of investing in necessary power grid infrastructure upgrades to ensure that our communities are protected from a utility-caused wildfire like the Camp Fire in California.

As a result, Pacific Power’s current wildfire plan includes cutting power to many rural communities through planned “Public Safety Power Shut-Offs.” For many rural residents who depend on power for medical devices, food storage, and other essential needs, this could result in critical loss of power with less than two days notice.
