 BIPOC Community Organizing Youth Internship
July 3 – August 28, 2025

Rogue Climate and Rogue Action Center (RAC) are hosting a Summer Youth Leadership internship open to youth ages 14 – 30 identifying as Black, Indigenous, and/or a Person of Color (BIPOC) located in the Rogue Valley.

Apply by June 2, 2025 for the opportunity to attend weekly workshops, learn hands-on community organizing skills, and join local campaigns for climate and social justice.

This program runs from July 3 – August 28, 2025, Fridays 1-3:30pm. Workshops will include Community Organizing 101, Climate Justice, Power, Privilege and Oppression, Campaign Planning and more. Interns will also participate in a project group. No prior experience is necessary, and interns will receive a stipend for their participation.

Please note that this internship is limited to 10 participants. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and early applications are encouraged. Once you submit we will follow up to schedule an interview as soon as possible. Accepted applicants will be informed by June 27, 2025

 

Program Requirements:

  • Interns will commit to participating in the full 9 week program from July 3 through August 28, 2025
  • Interns will commit to working with Rogue Climate and RAC for 3 – 5 hours a week. Some organization hours will be flexible to accommodate school and work schedules.
  • Interns will be provided a stipend of $500 for the 9 week program.
  • Workshops – 2.5 hours a week will be spent in a weekly Internship workshop with other interns to learn more about organizing, strategic planning, and social justice.
  • 0.5 – 2 hours a week will be spent developing skills by participating in a project group that may include canvassing, outreach at community events, phone banking, art making, and more.

Weekly Workshops:

Interns will meet once a week for Internship workshop Fridays 1- 3:30pm, and once a week for a project group on either Monday or Wednesday 4:30-6pm. The workshop schedule is as follows:

  • Orientation & Community Organizing 101
  • Climate Justice
  • Power, Privilege and Oppression
  • Fire Ecology with Vesper Meadow
  • Vesper Meadow trip
  • Campaign Planning
  • Campaign Planning part 2
  • Closing Celebration
