Summer 2024 Youth Organizing Internship – Rogue Valley
June 24 – August 23, 2024
Rogue Climate and Rogue Action Center (RAC) are hosting a Spring Youth Leadership internship open to all youth ages 14 – 30 located in the Rogue Valley.
Apply by January 14, 2023 for the opportunity to attend weekly workshops, learn hands-on community organizing skills, and join local campaigns for climate and social justice.
This program runs from February 2-March 23, 2024, day of the week TBD. Workshops will include Community Organizing 101, Climate Justice, Power, Privilege and Oppression, Campaign Planning and more. Interns will also participate in a project group. No prior experience is necessary, and interns will recieve a stipend for their participation.
Program Requirements:
- Interns will commit to participating in the full 8 week program from February 2 through March 23, 2024
- Interns will commit to working with Rogue Climate and RAC for 3 – 4.5 hours a week. Organization hours will be flexible to accommodate school and work schedules!
- Interns will be provided a stipend of $450 for the 8 week program.
- Workshops – 2.5 hours a week will be spent in a weekly Internship workshop with other interns to learn more about organizing, strategic planning, and social justice.
- 0.5 – 2 hours a week will be spent developing organizer skills by participating in planning events or field organizing to include canvassing, outreach at community events, phone banking and group or class presentations
Weekly Workshops:
Interns will meet one to two times per week for Internship workshops and event prep at a time to be decided upon by the participants by February 24th. The workshop schedule is as follows:
- Orientation & Community Organizing 101
- Climate Justice
- Power, Privilege and Oppression
- Event Preparation
- Campaign Planning
- Vesper Meadow’s Fire Ecology Curriculum
- Closing Celebration
