Support Ashland Youth for Electrification at City Council

Ashland Youth for Electrification and community supporters have resolved to show up to every city council meeting to urge councilors to put the Climate and Clean Air Policy Package on the agenda–until their demands are met. Join them every other Tuesday at Council Chambers (1175 E. Main st.) at 5:30, and wear blue to show your support!

Youth in Ashland have made it clear that there is no time to wait for Ashland to take immediate climate action by passing the Climate and Clean Air Policy Package. The city is on its way to passing this groundbreaking package of policies, but community pressure is needed to get it over the finish line.

The Climate and Clean Air Policy Package is a set of clear, actionable first steps that the city can take to protect its residents from climate impacts and improve indoor air quality. The package would:

• Limit indoor air pollution in new homes
• Charge a pollution fee for connecting new homes to gas hookups. The fee will fund energy-efficiency upgrades for low income households.
• Prohibit installing new gas pipes along public streets and sidewalks by the end of 2025.
• Commit to reducing fossil fuels in existing homes and new commercial buildings in the future.

Attending city council meetings and giving testimony are crucial ways to show counselors what their community wants. It is more important than ever that they see your support for the Climate and Clean Air Package. Ashland Youth for Electrification will be there…Will you?
